UK’s Most Hated Cyclist Reveals Police Support His Mission to Report Thousands of UK Driving Offences

Cycling Mikey reveals how the police have reacted to him reporting thousands of driving offences in the UK.

Chatting to host Andrew White on the programme Pulse Of The Nation, Mike Van Erp also known as Cycling Mikey spoke about the police’s reaction to reporting thousands of drivers: “I only deal with them online, I almost never see them via phone or in person, and it's the civilian team, in the MET mostly that deal with these traffic allegations. But my impression from many of them is that they really believe in the necessity for traffic policing and catching offenders. So, I think they're on my side, generally”

Later in the show, Cycling Mikey reveals how much money he is making from the videos: “It's fairly humble, like I still have to have my job, and I wouldn't give up my job”

He continued: “I am keeping the money from the income, which I think is reasonable. I mean, I'm putting myself out there. I'm putting myself at risk from somebody who's angry and potentially violent”

Also in this episode, Cycling Mikey revealed which gender is the better at driving: “I grew up with the idea that men were better drivers, and I was so wrong, as was the whole of that society. So, I catch about four men for every one woman”

He also spoke about bus drivers in London: “My view is it doesn't really matter how nice or nasty a driver is, whether they're man or women or poor or rich or famous or not famous. In the end, they're all still doing something that I would think is probably dangerous to society, I just report everybody. So, London bus drivers, TFL bus drivers, are really a cut above the average bus driver. In my opinion, I almost never catch them. Private coach drivers, I think can be more problematic.”
