    Samwell Reveals The Reality Of 'What What (In The Butt)' Fame And Being Recognised At His Day Job

    Viral singer Samwell reflected on the 18 years since releasing ‘What What (In The Butt)' and what it is like to now get recognised while working as a flight attendant. 

    Chatting to host Andrew White and co-host Bruce Devlin on the showbiz programme Pulse Of The Nation, Samwell discusses being recognised by fans at his regular job: “It's wonderful. I love it. I'm like, Okay, what? Yes, I did all the time, it's fine. I put a smile on my face. So, I always appreciate the sound lights, they're amazing. I get a lot of straight men, which is interesting” 

    Also in this episode, Samwell discussed how people would react to the song if it was released today: “I think it probably would have been at least a top 20 hit. I will say back then you don't realise that you were at the forefront of something, you're like, I was just doing what I was doing as a gay artist, they didn't really know what to do with the song back then. So, it did its morality. So, it became popular, but it never really made the charts. But I honestly think if it came out now, like today, it would be definitely in the top 20.” 

    Later in the show, Samwell reflected on the song's music video success on YouTube: “We just put it up there, not thinking that it would do anything. We're like put it up there, and let's see what happens. And then lo and behold, six months, a year later, South Park put it on their show, and then Tosh.0 featured me on his show. I also was in England many years ago when Lily Allen had her TV show. So, it was wonderfully crazy. And I loved it and still love it.”
