The publican who shot to fame for throwing Keir Starmer out of his pub for the way the Covid19 pandemic was handled has said he is "angry and but not surprised" about the Labour Party's plan to ban outdoor smoking at pubs and restaurants.
Chatting to hosts Ali Milani and Zoë Grünewald on the political programme Politics Uncensored, the publican gave his view on the government's plan to ban smoking in outdoor areas: “So if someone is smoking out there, they're fundamentally doing it because it's a public place. So for someone to say they can't smoke outside my pub is pretty much the same as saying they're not allowed to smoke on the street. So that's one thing. And there are spaces where lots of spaces where anybody that's concerned about secondhand smoke can sit. There's no need for anybody to be forced to have secondhand smoke."
When Humphris was asked would he allow Keir Starmer back into his pub: "No, what I would say to him is the things that I said to him on that day turned out to be right. What that government did about COVID was an utter disaster. We're seeing it in our children's mental health. We're seeing it in the way we are poorer, unhappier. The number of people who are dying is now more than it was then. And he should have opposed it. He should have stuck up for the poor, the vulnerable, the elderly, the sick. And he didn't."
Later in the episode, Humphris reveals what Keir Starmer could do to be allowed back into The Raven of Bath: "So he could start by, let's have a full, proper inquiry into the COVID vaccines and the damage that they've done. Let's have a full, proper, truthful inquiry into all the measures they took and whether they actually worked. Proper scientific inquiry. Let's have a look at who made what money and why. Those kinds of things. If he would like to do that, then I would shake his hand and make him welcome."
