X Factor Icon Who "Should Have Died" From Drugs Breaks Silence On Liam Payne's Death

Today, on FUBAR Radio, X Factor legend Janet Devlin broke her silence on the death of fellow star Liam Payne, after her own struggles with addiction and mental health.

Chatting to hosts Bobby Norris and Ellen Coughlan on the showbiz gossip programme Access All Areas, the singer reacted to her feelings after she heard the news of his passing: "We did a music video together. We did that charity single that One Direction joined in for the music video. So I met him a few times. I’ve been in recovery for the past 10 years from substances and drugs. And I think it's pretty much known that he had an issue with those things. My heart goes out to him for that, because it's such a tough thing. When you're struggling with that you just don't care anymore. It's a hard thing to see as well as someone who should have passed away many times in the past, and I didn't, and then you see someone that did. It's horrible."

She continued: "I think it's been a known thing that he struggled. I can absolutely sympathise with that. Although I find it really hard to talk about because of the things that came out the day before, and as a victim of those kinds of things myself, I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to discussing it. It’s an odd place to be. It’s sad to lose someone so young and it’s also hard for victims that have been through that."
