Love Island Winner Nathan Massey Reveals He Was Nearly Abducted As A Child

In an exclusive first, Nathan tells wife Cara De La Hoyde-Massey how a stranger allegedly tried to force him into a car when he was just seven or eight years old

Love Island winner Nathan Massey has revealed for the first time that he was nearly abducted as a child, when he and his sister were shopping in a supermarket with their mum.

Speaking during an exclusive interview for FUBAR Radio on their show Not In Front Of The Kids, Nathan recalled how a woman approached him when he was around seven or eight years old and allegedly directed him towards a doorway, where a man was waiting.

I’ve actually nearly been taken,” Nathan revealed. “No, seriously. I was seven or eight."

According to Nathan, the woman initially appeared familiar because she resembled the mother of one of his friends.

“She took me and she said, ‘Can you go and stand by the door?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, sweet.’ I was seven,” he said.

Nathan then claimed that a man grabbed him and attempted to force him into the back of a car. “A bloke grabbed me and tried to throw me in the back of a car,” he recalled.

Nathan said it was his sister, despite having a broken arm at the time, who intervened and prevented him from being taken. “My sister saved me,” he said. “She had a broken arm."

His wife and fellow Love Island winner Cara De La Hoyde-Massey confirmed that she had checked the extraordinary story with Nathan’s mother.

It’s true. I’ve asked his mum, it’s true,” Cara said.

Nathan went on to reveal that he had worked as a child model and travelled to Cologne, Germany, for modelling jobs. Cara joked that his childhood career may have made him particularly noticeable, recalling his “little blond bowl-cut hair” as he walked the runway.

Although the couple discussed the incident with their characteristic humour, Nathan explained that the experience has had a lasting effect on how protective he is of his own children.

That’s probably why I would never do that, because I’m conscious of what happened to me as a child,” he said. “I would never leave my child."

The revelation marks the first time Nathan has spoken publicly about the alleged attempted abduction.

Nathan and Cara met during the second series of Love Island in 2016, which they went on to win. The couple married in 2019 and have two children together.
