Nathan Massey has been “forced” to get a vasectomy after fans hit the social media target he set himself - meaning the Love Island winner has now promised to book the procedure and document it for his new radio show.
Nathan Massey and wife Cara De La Hoyde Massey have been locked in a long-running household debate over whether he should have a vasectomy, with Cara desperate for him to take permanent responsibility for contraception after the couple decided they are “two and done”.
Now, after discussing the issue on their new FUBAR Radio radio show Not In Front Of The Kids, Nathan agreed to a challenge: if their new Instagram page reached 500 comments and 3,000 likes, he would book the procedure.
The fans have delivered.
During the debate, Nathan admitted that the prospect of a vasectomy makes him nervous, saying: “It’s the crown jewels, man. It’s the crown jewels, and what if it goes wrong?”
But Cara argued that the physical and emotional burden of avoiding another pregnancy has fallen overwhelmingly on her, having carried and given birth to their two children.
She said: “I’m desperate for Nathan to get vasectomy because on the occasion that we do have sex, there’s still a chance I’m going to get pregnant.”
“I don’t want to have to go and have an abortion because there is no way on earth I’m going to have another child, and I don’t want to put myself through that mentally and physically because it’s not an easy decision for women to do. And it absolutely can fuck your head and your body.”
Cara then reminded Nathan exactly what she had been through to have their children, saying: “I have given you two children that I have pushed out of my vagina. Ripped myself open, put my whole body through the stress of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfed your children, messed my body up.”
She also explained that hormonal contraception isn't an option for her, saying: “I’m not on the pill. I can’t be on the pill because you know I’m like I already have like anxiety, depression. If I go on the pill, I’m even worse than I am now.”
The couple also discussed the fact that they have previously experienced pregnancy while Cara was taking the pill, leaving the possibility of another pregnancy as something Cara is particularly anxious about.
Nathan eventually conceded that Cara had made a valid argument, admitting unequivocally that he doesn't want any more children: “No, no, definitely no more kids. I’m two and done.”
That still wasn't enough for Cara, who has apparently been asking for the procedure as a Christmas and birthday present.
The conversation then turned into a public challenge, with the couple asking listeners whether Nathan should finally have the operation.
Nathan agreed to put a number on it. 500 comments. 3,000 likes.
If the new show Instagram page @notinfrontofthekidsfubar hit both targets, Nathan would book the vasectomy. He even agreed to have the experience documented for the show.
The checkpoint has now been reached.
So Nathan Massey has officially been “forced” into having the vasectomy by his own listeners and followers.
Cara is understandably delighted:“I see some light at the end of the tunnel that Nathan is getting his balls tied.”
Nathan and Cara, both former Love Island winners, launched Not In Front Of The Kids to give listeners an unfiltered look into their lives as a married couple and parents.
Nathan and Cara met during the second series of Love Island in 2016, which they went on to win. The couple married in 2019 and have two children together.
