Recently, on FUBAR Radio, Dr. Pippa Malmgren, a former advisor to President George W. Bush, claimed that Elon Musk would likely try to exert control over Trump if he were appointed to a position in his cabinet.
Chatting to Ali Milani and Zoë Grünewald on the political programme: Politics Uncensored, the economist revealed her thoughts on Trumps relations with the tech giant: “You got to understand that what just happened is almost like a quiet coup by the technology community. So, Elon Musk and the founder of Palantir, Peter Thiel, these guys basically rallied around Trump with a view that if he becomes president, they can bring all their technological capabilities to the government databases and figure out what's really going on. And so, Trump is now surrounded by a team that are kind of faster, better, smarter, and he's a lot slower compared to where he was when he won the presidency the first time around.”
She continued: “He may have some angry tendencies, but he's also got a group of people around him that are very likely to try to control, constrain, keep him measured.”
Later in the interview, Dr. Malmgren discussed the reasons behind Trump’s election victory: “The most important person in this respect is Bobby Kennedy, and, of course, Nicole Shanahan, his vice-presidential candidate, because it was these two that said, number one, we'll bring our youth vote."
She added: “And second, let's bring the tech people in so that we can get a clearer picture and some more effective results, and kind of less of the angry Trump, you know, released on the public. So, I think people are not understanding, yes, Trump won, but he's brought in a kind of technology team that is really going to be deciding the tone and direction”
